Summer Flies Workshop

Saturday, October 9, 2010

10:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

We feel so privileged to have the Donna Griffin and Holly Griffin-Weidner come to Yarntopia to teach their very popular shawl - Summer Flies.  Donna and Holly's designs are marketed under the name Holly and Ella Knits, and Summer Flies was the number one pattern on Ravelry for several weeks this summer.

Despite the name, this beautiful shawlette is the perfect accessory all year long here in the Houston area.  Albero by Louisa Harding is a gorgeous cotton and Lenpur yarn which has the drape and sheen of silk or bamboo.  This would be a wonderful choice for Summer Flies.  If you would like something warmer, change the yarn to a wool or wool and cotton for a substantial fall/winter wrap.  Because of the various lace patterns included, a solid or semi solid would be the best choice for this design.

The technique will be taught in swatch form.  This allows plenty of time to learn all the stitch patterns in class.  For this class you may bring your own needles and yarn - specifics are given on both  the calendar and class/events pages.

Seating is limited and full payment of class fee is required to hold your place.  The cost is $45.00 and you can call to reserve your space.
