KNIT-A-LONG (KAL) INFORMATION 2010

Block-A-Month

  • We will be using a series of free patterns found online.
  • You must print and provide your own pattern found here.
  • Sheryl will be available one Thursday evening per month from 7-8 to help with the squares.
  • There will be a $10 teaching fee charged to anyone using yarn not purchased at Yarntopia.
  • All people knitting these squares are welcome to come to Yarntopia and knit with Sheryl at no charge on Thursday evenings - things are fun when done in groups.
  • For Ravelry members, there is a Ravelry group for this KAL - we encourage you to join that group as well.

General Information

  • Others who have made, or are making, this afghan suggest using a minimal number of colors, 2 or 3 at the most.
  • A few of the squares are made with more than one color, so having 1 main color + 2 contrasting colors in mind is a good idea.
  • If your color choice is very specific, I would advise buying all of the main color at once then purchasing the contrasting colors as you need them. This will eliminate the concern over changing dye lots.
  • The pattern doesn't specify yarn quantity.  I will post more information on this as I knit a few squares.  Most afghans take a minimum of 1,200-1,500 yards of yarn.

Seaweed Cardigan

This beautiful cardigan is tunic length and designed to be worn open or belted.  The yarn used is a gorgeous linen blend - Allegoro from Classic Elite.

The pattern is in the Spring 2010 issue of Interweave Knits - we have 5 issues in stock now.

We will cast on for this on Friday, April 2nd and then knit together every Friday through the end of the month.

Welcome
